[Food] Ishin Japanese Dining @ Old Klang Road

I am a huge fan of Japanese food and the last time I had Japanese food was when I was in Japan in July for summer holiday. I came across this Ishin Japanese Dining restaurant when my ex-colleague introduced it to me for a small gathering. A month later I came back again for a food review. (=

Located at Old Klang Road which takes about 20 - 25 minutes from my house, Ishin Japanese Dining is a fine dining Japanese restaurant that serves genuine Japanese and Kaiseki style cuisines. You will experience a cozy ambience as soon as you step through Ishin's doorway. Their interior design and lighting will set the mood right to get you started on a wonderful Japanese culinary journey.

There are private rooms and tatami seatings available in the restaurant which gives you the flexibility to host private events and corporate functions in a comfortable setting.

Ishin has an oval sushi counter that gives you first-hand experience to witness the chefs' meal preparations and it also encourages face-to-face interaction with the chefs.

I had the chance to try out some of their MUST-TRY dishes in Ishin Japanese Dining. Check out the food that we have ordered on that day.

Hokkaido King Crab Soup - RM88

Unagi Yanagawa - RM69

Unagi Yanagawa is a simmered unagi with vegetables. I am not a huge fan of unagi but this unagi served is fresh and there's no fishy odour. I am pretty fussy when it comes to eat fish.

Baked Chawanmushi with Scallop - RM68

The chawanmushi served is so smooth in texture and the scallop is super fresh!

Tempura Zen

Tempura Zen - a set which consists of salmon sashimi, tempura, chawanmushi, miso soup, rice and fresh fruits. It's rather a huge set and it can be rather filling if you have this Tempura Zen set.

Tekka Don - RM59

Tekka Don is served with sliced fresh tuna on sushi rice. A big thumbs up on the tuna because it's fresh!

Hawaiian Roll - RM40

I love eating sushi and Ishin Japanese Dining serves one of the best sushis in town. I gotta say this Hawaiian Roll is one of my favourite sushis served in town. The mango slices served on the sushi rice is sweet and the fried prawn wrapped in it is pretty good!

Sushi Deluxe (Chef Selection 8 Types of Sushi) - RM93

This Chef Selection 8 Types of Sushi comes with fresh fish roe, caviar, tuna, salmon and prawn as well. Each dish is served fresh with regular patrons who visit Ishin on a daily basis (even on weekdays). I get to enjoy the finest taste of the food served with their superior super freezer which is imported from Japan. Therefore the quality and freshness is always maintained.

Hokkaido Uni Sujiko Sushi - RM90

This is one of the freshest uni sushi I have ever tried. The price of this sushi is rather on the high side but it's worth trying out if you are in Ishin as you might not be able to get such a good deal for such fine sashimi and sushis if you are in Japan.

Hokkaido Uni Sujiko Sushi

Apart from raw sashimi, Ishin Japanese Dining also offers a delectable spread of cooked food such as braised lamb, grilled Tuna, delicate foiegras, tender and juicy stoned grilled grade A5 Japanese Wagyu beef and other delish choices.

Let's save the best dish of the day for the last - Kagoshima Wagyu Saikoro Steak. I had one of the finest Wagyu beef steak. The beef is so juicy and tender which I truly enjoyed. I do not take beef normally but this steak from Ishin serves one of the best Wagyu beef I have ever tried so far.

Kagoshima Wagyu Saikoro Steak - RM280

Let's move on the dessert of the day - Raindrop Cake. I heard so much about Raindrop Cake and I have personally tried once but not from Ishin. Ishin serves a pretty good Raindrop Cake which I do not mind having more that day. Their peanut powder blended so well with the brown sugar syrup and the raindrop cake which is not too sweet to my liking.

Raindrop Cake - RM8

Overall I have an amazing dining experience at Ishin Japanese Dining. The dishes served were from the finest and fresh ingredients from Japan. You will definitely enjoy the finest quality and fresh food served in Ishin Japanese Dining.  I noticed that there were many patrons on weekdays too. I do not mind going there again to savour these authentic Japanese food in Ishin Japanese Dining.
