Diet Myths and Tips to Lose Weight ❤
Read this somewhere and I am gonna share with readers. In fact, I find these tips are really good. Maybe you guys should follow them as well? *wide grin*
There’s more tips on how to lose weight out there than you can count! And so much conflicting information! Control your diet from eating fats. No, it’s ok to eat fat, just don’t eat carbs. Eat lots of small meals, no, wait eat 3 meals a day, and have a big breakfast. Which diet tips should you stick to, and which are myths? The best advice comes from nutritionists (but sometimes even they don’t agree on which rules to follow!)
Here are some examples of diet advice that you shouldn’t pay attention to if you want to lose weight.
Does pasta make you fat? No, not if you eat it in moderation. A huge bowl of pasta with alfredo sauce can contain 1000+ calories! A small portion of pasta with a low fat sauce is a relatively low-cal alternative, and a good choice when dieting. Just don’t overdo it!
If you eat after 8pm, will you gain weight? It’s a common diet myth that eating later means the calories you consume won’t get burned off. As long as you’re not gorging on a bowl of ice cream after dinner, you’re not going to gain weight based on the time of your meal.
Crash diets - Will they make you skinnier? They probably will, in the short-term. It’s not a diet myth that decreasing calories means you will shed pounds. But a drastic drop in calorie intake will also mean your body will become more efficient in using those calories. It’s likely that just as soon as you go back to your “normal” diet, you will put the pounds back on. if you are really looking to lose weight and keep the pounds off, be smart about your calorie reduction. Slow and steady wins the race!
Will switching to diet foods help to lose weight?
Not necessarily. If you switch to low-fat or sugar-free cookies, you probably won’t reduce your overall calorie intake. Those snacks just don’t taste as good, so that craving for sweets or rich foods won’t be satiated with just a cookie or two. It makes more sense to have the snacks that you really love, but just watch the portions! “Diet foods” are diet myths.
This is a diet myth that’s been around for years and years: “Drink lots of cold water. It washes away foods and fat, so the calories don’t get absorbed as easily. And your body uses calories to heat the water.” This is a diet tip that you can ignore! It’s just not true, although drinking water is good for you. You need to stay hydrated, and it does give you a feeling of fullness that can decrease the appetite. Do drinking water is not a diet myth, but it’s not a magic answer to weight loss either.
Sometimes the best diet tips are the ones the ones that seem obvious, and the ones that take some effort. These are not diet myths: Watch your portions. Stay active. Eat a variety of foods like fresh vegetables, low-fat dairy products, whole grains. Don’t deprive you body of the things you crave. You will probably ditch the diet if you restrict yourself too much. Those are diet tips that you shouldn’t ignore!
